Been having this issue with Adobe's creative cloud versions on multiple mac (10.8 to current) workstations since forever. When I launch InDesign with any document the Control Panel/tool bar is there. If I close (not quit) the document and open up something else the Control Panel is gone. I've been quitting and restarting InDesign to get around
Is there a way to enlarge the InDesign interface elements? Ask Question 4. 1. You can always change the display resolution to increase the size of what you see on it. That means you can use a lower resolution and the icons and everything will look a bit bigger. You can usually have a shortcut for this in the menu bar on Mac.
Select InDesign>Preferences>Interface (or Edit>Preferences>Interface on a PC). Select the Auto-Show Hidden Panels check box to enable the feature. Ensure that there is a docked group of panels on one edge of the window. Select the Tab key to hide all panels and toolbars. *Tip: Use Shift-Tab to hide just the panels and not the toolbar or control
The Application bar across the top contains a workspace switcher, menus (Windows only), and other application controls. On Mac, the application bar is available only when Application frame is off. You can toggle it on or off using the Window menu. The Tools panel contains tools for creating and editing images, artwork, page elements, and so on

I opened up InDesign today to find nothing but my top menu bar available. No palettes at all, top or side. They were all there yesterday when I was working on my document. “Show Full Menus” was grayed, so I chose “Reset Advanced,” and everything went back to normal. Except I can’t get the Twilight Zone music out of my head…
Another option would be…to just customize the default toolbar.…So I'm going to bring that back.…View, Show Toolbar, and close out of our large tool set.…To add some icons up here,…I'm going to go to View, Customize Tool Bar.…Now, I can drag and drop these icons…into the toolbar above.…If you want to get rid of one of the icons
Hi Vicki, I'm in CS3 (MAC) and this is what I go to for that toolbar: Window > Control. However, it may well be different in CS. If Control isn't right, it will definately be in the Window menu
I opened Indesign CC tonight and all that I could see was the Mac Menu at the top with Indesign, File, Edit etc - but nothing else. The workspace, tool bars and icons are not to be seen. Thinking it was a corrupt file I deleted Indesign and re-downloaded it. It made no difference. I also loaded Indesign CS5 and got the same problem.
Acrobat files can have the Initial View set to hide the Menu Bar and the toolbars. This is nice when you dont' want all that extra interface, but annoying when you can't access the tools you need. And if the Menu Bar is turned off, you have no interface to the program at all! Here…
